Now, you could also DIY a spa-like facial set-up at home. To enjoy this, you would have to create a relaxing atmosphere with some basic set-ups: dim light environment, essential oil diffuser, candles and music, or whatever makes you feel relaxing.
1. Start with a deep cleanse
To maximise the nutrition intake to your skin, the first step should always be to cleanse in prepping the skin. Any products left on the skin would result in a less effective facial. Try a double cleansing to make sure your skin is as clean as possible. You could start with an oil-based cleanser that could remove products and makeup, then a water-based cleanser that will clear your skin of any grime like dirt or sweat.2. Steam your skin
When steaming your face at home, carefully control the time to prevent from dryness. To let your skin open up, here are two face steaming suggestions, 1) hover your face over a bowl of hot water and cover your head with a towel to trap the steam in, 2) soak a towel in hot water and put it over your face. It helps open up your pores and softening the top layer of the skin to prime it for exfoliation.3. Exfoliate to smooth and brighten
In order to ensure the ingredients penetrate, it is time to slough off the dead skin cells and reveal radiant skin. It is suggested to use an enzyme-based powder that exfoliates or chemical exfoliator instead of a physical exfoliator like a scrub from preventing to breakouts.4. Massage in a mask
To make your at-home experience resemble the spa and improve your glowing skin, sit in the bathtub with warm water and let that mask steam gently on your face. Wet your fingers with warm water or green tea for a fancier feeling if your masks is thick. Massage in your mask for a few minutes into the skin beginning at the chin and gently stroke outward. Follow a similar pattern on all the areas of the face including often-neglected spots like behind the ear lobes, around your nostrils and centre forehead. Then leave the mask on for 15 to 20 minutes to creates a perfect canvas for the rest of your at-home lockdown facial.5. Moisturise skin
Once you remove the mask, lock in the hydration with your favourite moisturiser mixing with a few drops of serum to make your facial feel more in-spa. Use facial massage tool like a jade roller to help de-puff your face. The benefit of facial spa is like a gym for your face muscle for a firmer look.
